Our first budget changed everything.
When we did our first budget together as a married couple it was like flipping a switch.
All of a sudden we could see exactly were our money was going.
We instantly saw several areas in our budget where we could easily cut back and move us closer to our other financial goals.
Our first few monthly budgets were hand written. Yeah man… pencil, paper, and a calculator. This method worked great for months.
After a few months I decided to re-create our hand written budget with a spreadsheet to speed up the process.
(I actually kinda miss doing our budget by hand. Budgeting by hand gives you an in depth knowledge of your money in ways that budgeting apps and software can’t.)
Since then I’ve created a few different spreadsheets that help us get an even better picture of how our money is flowing (or not) each month.
I use these spreadsheets myself, maybe they could help you too.
Here’s four different spreadsheets that will help you budget better, pay off your debts faster, save more money and grow your net worth.
(Plus a bonus MEGA-SHEET with all four in one! See below.)

P.S. I realize the word ‘spreadsheet’ can make some people want to pass out. Seriously y’all, just download the one that you think might help you the most and start filling it out. Don’t put too high an expectation on yourself. Don’t take it too seriously. Just fill it out, no big deal. There isn’t anything you are going to mess up. You aren’t going to do it wrong and break the Internet. Think of filling out your first spreadsheet as a low (the lowest possible) pressure step into the world of personal finance you could possibly take. There now, that wasn’t so hard now was it?
